Advisory Board

The PICC Advisory Board serves to provide informed guidance to the Executive Director. The Mission of the Board is to ensure ethical and transparent processes for members, potential members, clients and partners, and to advance the successful adoption of the AWP Model and Progressive Industrial Construction Certifications.

Brant Bercegeay, Turner Industries
Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Brant has worked in the construction field for over 20 years, starting as a Pipefitter helper and working up the ranks through estimating and scheduling to senior project controls positions. He is currently a Project Controls Manager for Turner Industries Group, a general industrial contractor engaged in the maintenance and construction of oil refineries, chemical and petrochemical plants, and pulp and paper mills, as well as other specialized services including pipe fabrication and bending, equipment rental and rigging, hazardous waste cleanup, and demolition. Brant has extensive background in scheduling, estimating, constructability and cost control in the Mechanical, Electrical and Engineering Sectors of industry. His project experience consists of expansions and upgrades, new construction, retrofit and turnarounds, with most of his career in the gulf coast region. He has also been involved in Benchmarking Engineering projects for the Construction Industry Institute, and is currently WorkFace Planning lead for a mid-size industrial expansion in Louisiana. Brant will provide essential representation from active WorkFace Planning practitioners to assist the Board in guiding the evolution of Best Practice and the PICC model for Certification.

Gary Carew, President, CEO Skyway Scaffolding of Canada
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

Gary has been involved in the scaffold services industry since 1979. He has held various sales and management positions of increasing authority, from branch manager to director of Canadian business development. Today, he serves as the president and CEO of Skyway Canada Limited, a leading scaffold and shoring solutions company. With expertise in operational effectiveness, Mr. Carew manages and guides all operations of his company to meet goals and objectives. He also handles finance and budgeting responsibilities, plans corporate strategy, meets with construction crews and clients, and visits job sites. Mr. Carew attributes his success to his business sense and excellent colleagues. Mr. Carew is a previous winner of the Alberta Construction Safety Association’s Innovation of the Year Award, as well as the 2002 Shell Canada Vendor Excellence Award.

Thomas Cream, Project Controls Manager

 Darlington, United Kingdom

Thomas is an experienced Project Controls Manager who is passionate about increasing the level of professionalism in the project controls field.  Thomas has performed project controls for both major clients as well as Tier 1 contractors in various industry sectors including Oil and Gas, Petrochemical, and Environment and Infrastructures.  Thomas is a member of industry leading organizations, such as GPC, AACE, and PMI,  and works with them to codify project controls Best Practice and drive competency within the field.  As a hands-on project controls SME (Subject Matter Expert), Thomas can demonstrate the value that AWP brings to projects.

Gabriel Dadi, Ph.d., P.E., LEED AP, University of Kentucky

Lexington, Kentucky

Gabe Dadi is an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Kentucky in the specialty area of construction engineering and project management. He also holds an appointment as a Research Professor in the Construction Engineering and Project Management group at the Kentucky Transportation Center. Dr. Dadi has nine years of experience in industry and research related to a multitude of project types including infrastructure, commercial, and industrial projects. His industry experience provided exposure to many facets of the project delivery process; bidding, pre-construction, layout, construction, commissioning, and closeout. At the University of Kentucky, Dr. Dadi teaches several undergraduate and graduate courses including introduction to construction engineering, construction methods, and BIM/CIM for construction. He served on CII’s Breakthrough Strategy Committee and is the Principal Investigator on RT 317 (Safety Performance through Operational Excellence). He earned Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Master of Business Administration, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the University of Kentucky. He is a registered professional engineer in Kentucky and LEED Accredited Professional.

Eric Gowland, P.Eng., CMC, CEO at EDGE

His focus is on aligning strategy with culture, securing team buy-in and support for change, as well as on developing and executing strategic plans on-time and on-budget with desired results. He is adept at applying and teaching best practices in Change Management/LEAN/TOC/6 Sigma Quality Systems.  He is currently serving as President at The Matcom Group,  Industrial Installation Services.

Bobby Patterson, EPC Project Executive, Zachry Industrial, Inc.

San Antonio, TX

Mr. Patterson has more than 40 years experience in all aspects of international and domestic project management, engineering, procurement, material management and construction with Zachry Industrial, Inc on both lump sum and cost reimbursable contracts. Emphasis for the past 26 years has focused on project execution and management, program implementation and management, advanced work packaging, and program development in synchronization of the engineering, procurement and construction efforts to ensure consistent execution and profitability. Bob has extensive experience working in an integrated EPC environment and with project organizations across the engineering and construction industry in self‐perform, Joint Venture and Tri‐Venture organizations in commercial, power, energy, chemicals, manufacturing and industrial sectors. 

Mr. Patterson is currently responsible for Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) application and execution in specific areas of engineering, procurement and material management on select large projects in the Zachry corporate portfolio. Primary focus and efforts are in support of advanced work packaging to provide a structure for focused execution planning incorporating Engineering, Procurement, Subcontracts, and Construction for consistent, predictable and profitable construction execution. Particular emphasis is placed on application of the select work package strategy that best supports the size and schedule of the project, ranging from full AWP application to targeted Construction application with procurement and material management integration.

Petra Polster, AECOM

Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Petra is a construction leader with a strong background in Field Engineering, WorkFace Planning, and Advanced Work Packaging. Petra is based in Calgary and has over 11 years experience in the implementation of work packaging techniques in Western Canadian construction projects. Petra, currently a WorkFace Planning Committee member at the Construction Owners Association of Alberta (COAA), is presently working as a PMO Director at AECOM. Throughout her previous role as a WFP Specialist in construction capital projects, Petra has contributed to designing work packaging solutions that have been implemented on a variety of project sizes.

Bill Wilson, Alberta Pipe Trades College

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

Bill Wilson is the Director of Education at the Alberta Pipe Trades College (APTC) in Edmonton. Bill also serves on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Union Schools and Colleges and Chairs the Finance Committee for the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters, Local 488. He has been the Co-Chairman of the Better Supervision Management Committee for the past 14 years. Bill holds a Bachelor of Education Degree specializing in Industrial Arts/ Vocational Education from the University of Alberta. Prior to becoming Director of Education at the APTC, Bill taught for eleven years in the public school system. Bill’s receptive demeanor has allowed the Alberta Pipe Trades College to adopt new ideas and improve the already excellent training programs at the facility. His “people first” philosophy and dedication to achievement has allowed the college to become one of North America’s finest training facilities.
